BRAC Task Force Begins Work
The BRAC process is utilized by the United States Department of Defense to either close or consolidate military assets and missions. Losing a mission would likely be detrimental to the economic development of the surrounding communities.
The Task Force members include Senators Bill Avery (Task Force Chair), Abbie Cornett, Russ Karpisek, and Rich Pahls; military representatives Adjutant General Tim Kadavy, former Adjutant General Roger Lempke, Col. Richard Evans, Col. John McLean (ret.); community representatives Jamie Karl (Nebraska Chamber of Commerce and Industry), Bruce Bohrer (Lincoln Chamber of Commerce), Megan Lucas (Bellevue Chamber of Commerce), Ned Holmes (Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce), and John Wood (Lincoln Airport Authority).
The BRAC Task Force will continue to meet from 9 am to noon every other Wednesday in room 1113 (State Capitol) until the final report is completed in December. The meetings are open to the public and the next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday September 10.
